The Beautiful Life Bombs

After only two episodes the CW series The Beautiful Life has already been canceled. Wow, two episodes. That's pretty sad. I guess Mischa Barton is out of work again. I thought the show had potential when I heard about it. Sex, drugs and the modeling world, but it turned out to be pretty boring. There was less focus on the dark side of things and more on the two sweet naive kids batting their eyes at each other. Where were all the pills? And the coke? And the sex? It premiered Sept. 16 to just 1.5 million viewers and dropped for the second episode. Not good. Bye bye Beautiful Life.

Little J's Raccoon Eyes

I figured I would post this picture of Gossip Girl's Taylor Momsen because this is the smallest amount of makeup I have seen her wear in a long time. Normally here eyes have a solid ring of black surrounded them that's two inches wide plus bright red lipstick. Imagine this makeup times 7. I know she is working on her music career, but really you don't have to look like Courtney Love to be in a rock band.

Dustin Diamond Needs to Go Away

Saved By the Bell alum Dustin Diamond has a new book coming out Behind the Bell. It is full of all kinds of juicy drug and sex filled gossip that makes all of the other cast members seem like crack hores. Many of the allegations have already been rebuffed. Since the last time he had his name in the media was for his sketchy sex film, which he sold himself, I'd say he's just looking for a way to get some money. No wonder the other cast mates hate him.

Miley on a Motorcycle

Miley Cyrus performed at the Staples Center recently. Her show included her on a bright red motorcycle and also what I think is a luggage rack. hmmm... maybe the luggage rack fits into a theme that's going on but the motorcycle looks fun.

Pink's Pastie

At a recent concert Pink decided to jazz things up by wearing a heart-shaped pink pastie. It makes me feel dirty.

I'm not sure when exactly this picture of Mischa Barton was taken, but it frightens me. I'm hoping it was before her time at the hospital. I watched the first episode of The Beautiful Life and thought it was a little boring. I just hope the level of trashiness increases because that could make it fairly enjoyable.

Sarah Michelle Gellar and Freddie Prinze Jr. had their first child which they named Charlotte Grace Prinze. Wow, it's strange when celebrities give their kids fairly normal names. The girl was born on Saturday.

Patrick Swayze Loses Battle with Cancer

Patrick Swayze died Monday after a battle with pancreatic cancer. He was 57.

"Patrick Swayze passed away peacefully today with family at his side after facing the challenges of his illness for the last 20 months," his publicist, Annett Wolf, said in a statement Monday evening.

Many celebrities including Jennifer Grey, C. Thomas Howell, Demi Moore and many others have spoken about the loss. Even though he had been battling the disease since March 2008 Swayze continued to work on several projects and wrote pieces directed to Congress about funding cancer research. Thoughts go out to his family and friends.

Lady Gaga’s Crazy Awesome Performance

At this year’s VMAs Lady Gaga performed her song Paparazzi. It was strange and very unique but made for a great performance. She sounded fantastic live and brought something new and interesting to the VMAs. Check it out.

Dragon Con 2009

The same weekend I got to take in the Britney concert I also attended Dragon Con for the first time. It was amazing! For those who don’t know it is the largest multi-media, popular culture convention focusing on science fiction and fantasy, gaming, comics, literature, art, music, and film in the US. There were crazy costumed people everywhere. There were also a lot of strategically placed bars scattered throughout the hotels. All of the people were really friendly and enthusiastic. It was very overwhelming but also really incredible. Every few days I’ll post some pictures from it. The majority are from the parade where thousands of people came out to watch costumed participants march down the streets of Atlanta. It was fantastic!

Kanye Could Use a Good Kick to the Rear

At last night’s VMAs Kayne West stole the stage. Literally. When Taylor Swift went up to accept her award he took the mic from her a said Beyonce’s Single Women video was the best of the year. Poor Taylor. She seemed so excited to be up on the stage receiving an award. When Kanye came up, she looked a little confused but still excited until he began to talk. He ruined her whole night. It must be fun crushing the dreams of a 17 year old on live television. At least Beyonce was able to redeem the situation a little when she won video of the year and called Taylor on stage to give her acceptance speech.

Britney in the ATL

This past weekend I went to the Britney concert in Atlanta and it was one of the most incredible things I’ve ever seen. It was a couple hours of pure fantasticness. She looked incredible and never stopped moving the entire time. Her ability to dance and run across the stage in extremely high heels is impressive. Even though I was surrounded by horrible disgusting people grinding on each other and singing along really atrociously it was worth it. I really love how she changes up her set list and costumes at every show. Also, it really seemed like she was having a great time performing and was genuinely happy to be there. Someone Should Have Taught Them to Dance

You would think with all of the dancing shows out there now the people at 90210 could get someone to teach their actors how to dance without looking horribly awkward. Anyway, it is pretty hilarious. Go to 7:35 in the clip to see the big dance number.

Drink Special!

I figured it’s been too long since I featured a good drink so I thought I’d go back to one of the best cocktails to get you a little sauced after a long day of work – The Dirty Shirley. This is basically the alcoholic version of the regular Shirley Temple. What I really love about this drink is that it has all of the wonderful deliciousness of childhood with the oh so satisfying alcohol of adulthood. A wonderful combination. It is also very easy to make. The recipe only requires either rum or vodka (I like rum best), sprite, grenadine and some cherries. Mix the rum/vodka with some Sprite in whatever ratio you prefer over ice. Then add a splash of grenadine and some cherries. Poof… the wonderfully delicious Dirty Shirley.
